 Oil drain interval recommendation:

You should follow your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations for preventive maintenance based on your individual driving habits and conditions.  Manufacturer's recommendations vary by year, make and model of the vehicle, and most specify shorter intervals for motor oil and filter changes if you drive under one or more of the following conditions:

-Making short trips 
-Driving in stop-and-go traffic 
-Driving in dusty or dirty air conditions 
-Driving at high rates of speed 
-Idling for long periods of time 
-Extreme cold or hot weather 
-Allowing a vehicle to sit for long periods between operation 
-Towing 
For the majority of vehicles driven under one or more of these conditions, the vehicle manufacturer recommends changing the motor oil and filter every 3,000 miles.
